PYCon UY - Code of Conduct
(Adapted from the PSF Code of Conduct for the Python Uruguay community)
PyCon UY is a community conference intended for networking and collaboration within the Python developer community. We value the participation of each member and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
Accordingly, all staff, attendees, speakers, exhibitors, organizers, and volunteers at any PyCon UY event are required to conform to the following Code of Conduct.
Our Community
Members of the Python community are open, considerate, and respectful. We welcome people of varied abilities and experience and adhere to the following values:
- Open collaboration, whether it’s on problem solving, community event organizing, code contributions, etc.
- Acknowledging time and effort of the volunteers across the Python community.
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences.
- Showing empathy towards other community members, whether in person or online.
- Being respectful of others, their positions, their skills, their commitments, and their efforts.
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism, and being courteous when we disagree with said criticism.
- Using welcoming and inclusive language, fostering an environment where anyone can participate and everyone can make a difference.
Our Standards
Every member of our community has the right to have their identity respected. The Python Uruguay community is dedicated to providing a positive experience for everyone, regardless of age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, or religion (or lack thereof), education, or socio-economic status.
Inappropriate Behavior
Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include (but are not limited to):
- Harassment of any participants in any form, including deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
- Violent threats or language directed against another person
- Sexual language and imagery in online communities or in any conference venue, including talks
- Insults, put downs, or jokes that are based upon stereotypes, that are exclusionary, or that hold others up for ridicule
- Unwelcome sexual attention, advances or physical contact without consent
- Sustained disruption of online community discussions, in-person presentations, or other in-person events
- Other conduct that is inappropriate for a professional setting
Community members asked to stop any inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Consequences
If a participant engages in behavior that violates this code of conduct, the Python Uruguay community Code of Conduct team may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling from the community and community events.
When the team receives a report of a Code of Conduct violation, the following steps are taken:
- Acknowledge the receipt of the report.
- Evaluate conflicts of interest.
- Call a meeting of the Code of Conduct team
- Evaluate the reported incident and proposed actions to take, including any consequences for the reported person
- Communicate results
- Follow-up with both reported person and person who made the report
